Rant and Rave: Rant—Flight to New Orleans on Northwest Airlines, Spring 2001—It was my first trip out of the state with my girlfriend/wife-to-be and her friends, and we headed out to New Orleans to go to Jazz Fest. One of my wife's friends is the super-organized type, and she insisted on taking care of the flight plans over a month in advance. We get to the airport and I find out that she got us a flight on Northwest that was $30 cheaper per person than the next best option. Not a ton of money, but still not bad...except for the fact that we had to fly on Northwest. Do you happen to know where Northwest's hub is? IT'S IN MINNEAPOLIS! Who in the hell wants to fly from Los Angeles to New Orleans through Minneapolis?!? What should have been a 5 1/2 hour trip (including the time change) turned into an 11-hour epic journey, all to save $30. |
