Thoughts on the World Cup Quarterfinals
ARGENTINA-GERMANY
A thriller. Where the hell is Messi? Tevez looks tough and crafty. Someone cut Crespo’s hair. Argentina are electric.
Germany looks frightening. The power, the strategy. This thing is very tight and well played. Exciting stuff.
PK’s. Sorry to see anyone lose this. Nice stutter step. Germany wins. Great match.
ITALY-UKRAINE
MIA: Schevshenko. Where the hell is this guy? On the same Island as Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Two of the top ten players in the world, utterly absent in their teams biggest matches. Italy is dominating.
Goal. And another. Italy is storming through the Ukrainian defense. Totti. Terrific play. This is a rout and Ukraine didn’t show up. Well done La Forza.
ENGLAND-PORTUGAL
The English look anemic and listless. Beckham’s freekicking is the best in the world, but where is the creativity? Where’s Crouch? Too late…
Portugal strings more passes together. Ronaldo is a demon on earth. So fast, so quick. His shots are so on.
PK’s. Depressing. England deserves to lose, going one for four and the only reason they were even in it was because Portugal missed two. No saves. Portugal advances. If the Germany-Argentina game was a brilliant match that I was sorry to see someone win, this game is a sorry affair in which I’m sorry to see anyone win. Boring and poorly played.
BRAZIL-FRANCE
Ronaldhino looks like a transvestite prostitute on Santa Monica Blvd whose teeth are in full revolt. He must do it for the kicks because he certainly doesn’t need the money. He is amazing though. Amazing. He can do anything out there.
Zidane is a god. He is the greatest midfielder I’ve ever seen play. My god, his will is so apparent in the game. He and the French are embarrassing the Brazilians. The defense is amazing. Henry is tremendous. The French look to be peaking as they advance.
